Brrrr.  I know it January but I just love photographing outside in the fall.  You get so many opportunities for interesting angles and perspectives for a family portrait.

Every age is a favourite age, but as a parent and a photographer, the real fun starts when kids turn one. For this particular session, getting down low is key in getting the best shots possible.

At one, Grant can now finally run on his own! (notice I brought a chair!) And with his timid smiles, plus the blues eyes, it was absolutely heart-melting.

Meet Lauren, his big sister. She just loved the flowers in this field.

Letting parents join in creates a whole different mode.  It’s a different kind of story with totally new personalities.  You can totally tell she’s Daddy’s girl!

Relationship is really the secret into showing the personality of each member of the family.

Knowing which photographer to choose for you and your baby can be a real challenge. You deserve the absolute best and spotting the difference between professionals and amateurs can be difficult. As a mother and accredited Maternity Portrait photographer, the last thing I want is for your baby in the hands of someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing. Which is why I created this free guide so you can avoid the pitfalls and know exactly what to look for. Enter your details below and I’ll email it straight out to you.

Shirah Itskovitch2“When working with newborns it is important to find not only an amazing photographer but also a photographer that works amazingly with newborns. Alana has children of her own and her motherly nature shows. She handled our baby as if her own and I was worry free the entire photo shoot. Being a first time mom, everything is scary but having Alana come to our home and work her magic was more than I could have asked for!”
